Far From Rodeo Drive!!

We went to this great rodeo a few weeks ago in a little town called Amititan!! Although I can't say much for the fashion sense of the rodeo goers, there were a few nice pairs of cowboy boots!! I myself am searching for a beautiful red pair of cowboy boots!! I will post them when and if I find them!!

Oscar Fashion 2010

Sunday was Oscar night and I must say that it is not one of my most anticipated days of the year - finding out who wins what but it is a great night to see which of the fashion trends made it from the runway out onto the red carpet. And although I actually didn't get to watch the Oscars due to a freak power outage, I did manage to pick up on a few trends within the reviews.

1. As seen on the runway as well as the red carpet were alot of soft pastels which I absolutely loved. Sporting the pastels, and wearing Elli Saab, Rachel McAdams was definitely my favorite. She is not only Canadian, but fashionable and stunning as well.

2. Another trend incorportaed into Rachel McAdmas dress was the abstract print, which was also worn by Maggie Gylenahaul, which was a close second for me.

3. There was general trend of softness and femininity with lots of ruffles, frills and lace. Mylie Cyres pulled this one off flawlessly in Jenny Packham.

4. And finally in a trend leaning towards old Hollywood glamour, Sara Jessica Parker looked stunning her gold Chanel Haute Couture.

Who was your favorite??

Hope you enjoyed the show,

Steven Allan Spring 2010

Have you seen the new Steven Allan Spring Collection???? It is to die for.....Here are some items from the Steven Alan Spring Collection that I love. As I am currently at the beach, I think that the dresses are really appealing to me. I am so happy the spring summer collections are finally coming out because here in the endless summer of Mexico, it is hard to follow the winter trends, even though I would love to.

Overalls..... Oh So Softly

Inspired by the prairie settlers of north america, overalls are making a comeback this season (or maybe last season). They have been popping up all over the runway shows and in recent photo shoots as well. And I have to say I LOVE THEM. When I purchased my first pair in November, I think most people thought I was crazy, now as they are being seen more and more, I hope people realize I am a little more sane than they thought!!

Alexa Chung  - She always gets it right!!

My Built By Wendy Overalls have basically become my new uniform. I LOVE them. They are not only super cute, but so comfortable as well. While overalls are hot for the Spring/Summer collections, these are from last season.  I think that Wendy was a bit ahead of her time on these ones. This was the only line to put out overalls for the last season. I had to search long and hard for overalls, and finally I found some - and they are amazing. While I think many different looks can be achieved with the overall, this is my oh so softly look. The material is a soft jean, the legs are wide enough. I wore this outfit to go grocery shopping downtown - hence the shopping bag  which was full of deliciosu fruits and vegetables - the pirks of living in the tropics.

Will I buy another pair for the summer months - you bet!!!

Just Sip It

Dominic and I are in Mexico working on a little Tequila venture. Tequila is actually such an interesting liquor, it is much more than a drink to be had a shooter. Rather, we are finding out that it should actually be sipped, just like one would do with a fine wine or scotch. There are some really cool brands of Tequila out there. Hopefully they will make their way into Canada some day real soon.

These are the Agave plants which the Tequila comes from.

The hearts of the agave which are roasted and then crushed to extract the juice out of them.

Dominic and I hard at work on a tequila farm....

Jean Skirt: Gap
Tights: DKNY
Belt: Vintage - Found in my moms closet
blouse: Club Monaco
Cardigan: Vera Moda

This outfit is not something that I would normally put together, but when business calls there is sometimes no choice in the matter. I was going for the whole cowboy professional look without looking too over the top. I am not sure if I achieved it but the combination of the boots and jean skirt made me feel like a cowgirl anyways.

Bye for now,

Modern Mexican

So, I know that this is not the fanciest of outfits but I thought I would post it anyways as it is my attempt at making Mexican modern. This shirt was designed and made in Mexico which in my world is a big thumbs up as many clothes are made in Mexico for super cheap and then sold elsewhere. This shirt however was made here and sold here thereby buying this shirt was not only a great chance to support a local designer, but the Mexican economy as well.

I love the contrast of the traditional patterns and colors of Mexico with the modern design of the shirt.

Beautiful Blue Boats

I thought you might enjoy this photo I took at the beach in a little fishing village. I love the colors in the photo, so bright and brilliant that you can't help but smile. If some day I ever have a house I think I will decorate a room around this photo!!

Flower Power

I am really getting into the whole floral trend this season. I love love love my new skirt from Mango. It has added a little punch of color into my wardrobe.  It is almost like wearing a bouquet of flowers,  it will not only cheer you up but everybody around you.

The floral trend this season has a bit of a grown up twist in comparison to other florals. The florals this season come in a variety of colors including red, pink, blue and purple however they are on a dark background navy blue or black.  I know that the floral skirt would look super cool paired with a floral top but maybe I will give it a try when I get a little bit braver. For now I will enjoy the skirt as is.

I have been wearing this grey t-shirt a ton but it just seems to go great with everything I own!!

It is almost getting too hot here for me to be wearing tights and boots but I guess I shouldn't complain!

Fendi Spring Summer 2010

While the spring sumer 2010 season is full of whimsical, Parisian inspired, tattered edges and pastel colors, the Fendi Ready to Wear line has encompassed all of these trends in their line. I picked out a few of my favorite looks which are inspiring me this season. If you want to check out the entire collection you can do so here at Fendi SS 2010 Ready to Wear

I love love love this skirt. She looks like she means business but so feminine at the same time.

I love this dress. So pretty and light. And the belt just gives it that little bit of extra. I'm happy to see that belts are still appearing on the runways as you can do so much with them.
Check out these shoes!! I think they are great minus the heel as I am a flats girl!!

Ciao for now,

I Heart Chanel!!

I first saw a Chanel inspired sweater worn by Alexa Chung and I immediately fell in love. I love the contrast of the iconic, clean cut, and modern lines of the Chanel suit jacket inspired sweater with the ultra casual t-shirt and jeans.

I picked up this great pendant from a market here in GDL - it a a mere 25 pesos which is less than $2.00.

Have A Wonderful Weekend!!

Here is just a quick snap shot of the flowers that I got for Valentines Day!! One of the perks of being in Mexico is that tropical flowers are readily available and they still look as nice as the day I got them.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!!

Shocolaa!!

I came across the cutest little chocolate shop downtown in Guadalajara! Assuming that the chocolates would be ultra sweet, as many dulces in Mexico are, I was completely surprised when I bit into my first  chocolate. It was not too sweet, not too bitter, but just right - I am sure that Godly Locks would have enjoyed it. Not only is the chocolate completely delicious but they also comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes and designs.

I am not sure who these chocolates were supposed to appeal to but it seems like they sell alot of them.
The store was also tastefully decorated!!!

These to ladies were great!! They were happy, willing to help and super knowledgeable about the chocolates.

After all this talk about chocolate, I think I may take a trip down to Shocolaa!! You should do the same - you deserve it!!

Prairie At Heart

Since I have now been away from Canada for about a month, I thought it was time to pay homage my beloved Prairie Province of Saskatchewan. I know that it is not one of the major destinations to see before you die, but it is amazing. There are over 200 000 thousand lakes, pristine forest, and the most amazing sunsets. And despite the common misconception that people from Saskatchewan have no style, I would have to say we are doing pretty good. Some of the best dressed people I know either live in Saskatchewan or are from Saskatchewan. I think you should be proud of where you come from - it has made you who you are!!!

The name of this dress was "Prairie Girl" and so not only did I love the name but the dress was amazing as well. It is a shirt dress detailed with sea shell buttons.

Happy Valentines Day!!

I am so happy to be spending Valentines Day with the most amazing man in the world - My Husband!!!  Although I sometimes think that Valentines Day was created as a consumer holiday, I still love the premise of the idea.  It is just a day to let the one you love know how much you love and appreciate them!!

I will leave you with a few pictures from our wedding. It was the wedding of my dreams and I actually don't think that the day could have been any more perfect.  But I am sure everyone says that about their own wedding! However, I must say it was like a fairy tale - we rode up the gothic style 18th century church in a horse and carriage, I walked down the isle with my mother and father to an amazing quartet and an beautiful opera singer. And the dress, oh the dress, I how love thee....It was a Vera Wang from the Princess Collection. There were only a few made to accompany her Princess Fragrance. It was pink silk on the top accompanied with layers and layers and layers ..... and layers of silk tulle.

My friend gave me the most amazing compliment yesterday when she said that, "You and Dominic just as in love, if not more than the day you were married." And I immediately replied, "Of course, if it wasn't so, then I wouldn't be married."

I  still love my wedding dress as much as the day I first saw it.

Oh... The Kiss.... that every girl dreams of....

I wish you the most joyous and love filled day and may all your dreams come true!!

Happy Valentines Day,
XOXOX
