White Wash

Every summer Dominic and I go back to our little house on the prairie so that we can tend to our bees. Although it feels like we have only just arrived here on the East Coast, the time to depart is quickly  creeping up behind us. And while it will be bitter sweet, I am actually very excited to get back to our little house in which we are half way through renovating!! Inspired by a white on white look, my goal was to make the house look like a modern/vintage Swedish Cottage and I am super happy with the way it has turned out so far!! And since we will soon be going back, I am starting to look for some style inspiration. Even though our house already had new flooring when we moved in, I love the look the white wash floor boards!!! Maybe in our next house!!

The Perfect Trench

I am currently on the hunt for the perfect trench coat for Spring. Meaning that it should be reasonably priced, with a great fit and a nice length!! Although I am more partial to buying a black one, there seems to be more options in the khaki color. Here are a few of the ones I have been considering. I think they both look light and airy and perfect for Spring!!

Almost Time For Sunnies!!

It almost looks like fall in these pictures, but nevertheless, it is Spring. Since it is our first Spring here in Newfoundland, we are never really sure what to expect from the weather, which I must say, has been quite sporadic. But regardless of the wind and the snow and the sleet and the rain, each cloud has a silver lining. In this case, the silver lining is the SUN which is getting consistently warmer and allowing me to wear my Sunnies which I desperately missed over the cold and cloudy winter!!

Repetto Shoes

It seems as though many of my posts this week have been inspired by the ballerina trend!! So I thought I would finish the week off with some of my favorite ballerina inspired shoes. Originally created for ballerinas, Repetto, located in Paris France, has a line of shoes for dancers as well as a fashion line. I have a red pair of these flats and absolutely love them as they compliment any wardrobe. Plus, I think that any of these flats would be perfect for both the ballet and color blocking trends this season. As you cannot order these beauties from Repettos online site, you can get them Canada's very own Gravity Pope. If you haven't heard of this store before, you should check it out online. It is definitely one of the best shoe stores I have ever been to.

Ballet Inspired Wedding!!

Dominic and I had the most amazing wedding 2.5 years ago! And, we had so much fun that we decided we are going to do it every ten years!!! It is the only occasion that you have all of the people you love and share your lives with, in one room, which is the most amazing feeling ever. In 7 years time, we will have met a whole new host of people and will not have seen many of our wonderful friends that we have known for years!! So why not throw a party, you only live once!

Plus, who says that you should only be able to wear a wedding once?? I loved everything about my dress and I would love to do it all over again!!I think this ballerina inspired wedding would be absolutely amazing for our next wedding!!

Etsy Find of The Week!

I would love to fill one of these lovely rucksacks full of delicious eats, a colorful blanket, red wine and of course some wine glasses, and head out to one of the lovely beaches here in St.John's, to have a picnic in the sun! I think these Rucksacks by Infusion would be the perfect addition to a summer activity!!

Chloe Spring 2011

I am so in love with Chloe's Spring 2011 collection. Not only is the collection light, airy and ultra feminine but it encompasses two of the most popular trends this season - mid length skirts and ballerina inspired outfits!! With tons of tulle, organza and red ballet flats, I find myself embracing my childhood dream of being a prima ballerina.

jean + jean = more jean

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Dominic and I just had a quiet weekend at home, since we both had a bit of a cold and it was windy and snowing all weekend. As such, we decided to take some photos inside of our house. I know this is not our normal fare, but it is nice to switch it up once in a while.

On another note, I am happy to report that the jean on jean look is going to be sticking around for another season!! Only this season, it will have more of a 70's vibe, at least that is what I am going for! As, the options of jean on jean are endless, with the variety of washes and items that can be mixed and matched, (ie. jeans, jean skirts, jean shorts, jean vests, jean shirts)I think this will be one of my go to summer trends !!

You may remember The Jean Look I wore last summer. I am not sure why, but to me it seems as though the jean look is a summer thing. So, since it is now officially spring, I thought I would pull out my jean overalls! Plus, I wanted to showcase my new and lovely clogs which I purchased here in St.John's at Twisted Sisters Boutik (one of the stores that I have been frequenting here in St. John's). Although there is still too much snow to wear them outside, I cannot wait to wear them with some cute socks!!

Where is My Gypsy Caravan??

It is a snow day here in St. John's, meaning that the entire city is shut down due to a crazy storm. As such, we are stuck in the house for the entire day. If I were a real gypsy, I would get into my caravan and head South, far far far South, until I hit the warm weather and a beach with hot water!! Since, I am not a gypsy, I will be here, in St.John's, enjoying the snow day, by sewing a tutu inspired skirt!! So stay tuned for some pics which I will try to post in the upcoming weeks!!

A Great Hat Speaks for Itself!

It is still too cold and windy here in Atlantic Canada to wear a hat. However, when it does warm up enough to allow me to trade in my tuque (wool hat) for a real hat, I will definitely do so!!!

I think these ladies really know how to rock their hats - don't they look fantastic?? Each hat seems to give the outfit a unique sense of character, which, I think, can only be achieved by a hat!! I am pretty sure I could see myself in all of these hats!!

Etsy Find of the Week!

The walls in our apartment are still a little bare since we did not bring any art with us from Saskatchewan. As such, I have been dreaming of some wonderful art that I would love to hang on my walls. Here are a few examples, aren't they lovely and whimsical!!!  I am seriously considering buying the one with the feather, there is just something about that screams my name!!

The Pendleton Blazer

This month, I have been noticing a lot of brown blazers, both in the stores and in the blog world. That's why, when I saw this Pendelton Blazer at a cute little store here in St.John's, I just had to have it! Not only is it an original Pendelton, made in the Portland, Oregon, but it is 100% wool and extremely warm (which is necessary here in St.John's, as you can see it is still snowing). Although it is slightly too big, it is nothing that a belt can't fix!!

I have actually been looking for a blazer just like this one for a while now!! And I am not surprised that I found one at Model Citizens - they have a great selection of second hand modern and vintage clothing - which is a concept I have never seen before but I have quickly grown to love!! You can check out their blog here!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Do you have any fun and exciting plans for St.Patricks's Day? We are planning to have dinner with some friends and then going to hear some Irish Music at a local Irish Pub. I am sure there is going to be a lot of green beer, however I think I will just stick to my red wine!!

It is normally tradition to wear green on St. Patrick's Day, but I don't have a single green item in my entire wardrobe. As such, I thought I would put together this little creation of what I would love to wear tonight. I have been eyeing up these gorgeous pleated mid length skirts - aren't they lovely??

        Happy St.Patrick's Day!!

Wishing you all of the luck of the Irish,

Etsy Find of the Week

Ever since Dominic and I met, morning has been one of our favorite times of the day. The first person to get up, immediately goes to the kitchen to start making our morning espresso. Not only do we enjoy the aroma and flavour of fine espresso but it is our time to enjoy each other while we plan our day!! I bought Dominic this espresso mug for Valentines day and he absolutely loves it....and so do I!!
Even though the gift wasn't for me,  I must say that it was so much fun to receive it in the mail, as it was pre-wrapped in the most amazing artistic manner and she even gave us this cute little spoon as an extra gift!! Such a great etsy experience!! Make sure to check out the rest of the clay products from Ippuko's Shopespecially this mug, as 50% of the proceeds will go towards Japans Disaster Relief!!!

My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Bar!!

Anybody who knows me, knows that I like to start my mornings with a delicious smoothie (I like to call them milkshakes as it seems like more of a treat). Depending on what is in my fridge or freezer at the moment, I tend to switch up the ingredients making for a new and exciting breakfast each morning. I say freezer because over the summer I pick  all kinds of wonderful berries in the forest and in my garden including raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, Saskatoon Berries (a berry native to Saskatchewan) etc and freeze them. There is nothing healthier, tastier, environmentally friendly or satisfying than picking your own berries!! I  also like to add nuts to my milkshake which is a trick that I picked up in Peru. Not only does the nuts give the most creamy delicious flavour, but they fill your belly for hours and they are so so so healthy for you!!

So if you want to give the milkshake a try here is a bit of a recipe or rather what I put in my milkshake this morning.
A handful of the following:
strawberries
banana
cantaloup
yoghurt (4% m.f)
almonds
walnuts (good for your brain)
and
1/2 cup of soy milk

Enjoy!

Pink on Pink

This was my first attempt at playing with the color block trend. And, since I have an abundance of pink in my wardrobe, I thought I would layer my bright pink jeans with a light pink cardigan. I would have loved to take off my blazer to show you the color contrast of the pinks, however, it was just too cold and I couldn't bear it. Luckily these pictures were taken last week as the snow is now almost gone!!

Copenhagen is Calling My Name!!!

Although I have never been to Copenhagen, I find myself dreaming about the beautifully designed buildings overlooking the historical canals and cobble stone squares. Known for their  modern design, I feel like the city is just waiting to be discovered by me!! Next to Paris, this is on the top of my list of places to visit!!

Frankie Sanford

I first saw this expose on Frankie Sanford (A British Pop Star from the Saturdays) at Wholesome Fashion and I instantly fell in love with her hair!! My sister has been trying to convince me to get this hair cut for a while now, but I haven't seen a version of it that I really loved until now!! Doesn't she look fantastic?!? Plus, I think she has an amazing sense of style - classic but a bit edgy!!
