DIY Crocheted Basket

It is always a great experience to go into a home that has  a  collection of handmade items. Not only does it give the home some character but it also gives you a small glimpse into who the  home owner really is. I have been searching for a nice magazine rack lately and  I love the idea of this home-made one. And although I don't know how to knit or crochet, I may recruit my mom to make one for me! Here are the DIY instructions if you feel like making one yourself!

Copenhagan Christmas Decor

I love the simplicity of the Christmas decorations in this Copenhagen home. I have never really thought of purple as a Christmas color, but I think the subtle accents of purple are absolutely magnificent. I am however, a big fan of Christmas decorations having a theme. My decorations are a combination of white, gold and pink. Do you have a theme to your Christmas decorations or do you prefer a mix of colors??

Babylonstoren - A Boutique Hotel

As I have mentioned before, we are moving to Victoria in the new year. We already rented a house there so that we arrive we have a place to go. The upstairs of the house has a loft style bedroom which I am super excited about but also a little worried about how I am going to decorate it. As such, I have been looking for loft style design inspiration and I came across this beauty. It is a Babylonstoren, stylish boutique hotel in South Africa which also doubles as a working farm. So guests can enjoying harvesting food from their garden  and cooking it is their stylish abode. I have to say it sounds a lot like our house in Saskatchewan. What do you say, would you spend your vacation at a place like this??

Interior Inspiration - How to Style Your T.V!

Dominic and I have never had a T.V before. We always thought that we could be more productive without it because there are so many other things to do besides watching T.V. Nevertheless, we have always watched a lot of movies/t.v shows on our computers. So we finally broke down and bought a T.V so that we could watch movies on a bigger screen. It is not one of those crazy big T.V's but just big enough for us. Now, the only problem is that we need to find a space to put the new T.V. After seeing these homes, I think that I am more partial to hanging the T.V on the wall. How did you incorporate your T.V into your house????

Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Since I will be heading back to our little Swedish/Saskatchewan abode in less than a few weeks, I am getting more and more excited to continue decorating our house. When we left the house in December, we were in the middle of renovations and only just started to decorate. This summer, my goal is to finish the renovations and continue the decorating process.

Since we move around a lot and have actually never owned a place, it is so much fun to finally be able to create a space that is all our own. I have been loving this idea of a mirror collage for our living room. Although, the only problem is that it may take a while to collect enough fabulous vintage mirrors to mae a collage. Nevertheless, I will see what the vintage stores in Saskatchewan have to offer this summer!! In the mean time check out these great mirror collages!!

White Wash

Every summer Dominic and I go back to our little house on the prairie so that we can tend to our bees. Although it feels like we have only just arrived here on the East Coast, the time to depart is quickly  creeping up behind us. And while it will be bitter sweet, I am actually very excited to get back to our little house in which we are half way through renovating!! Inspired by a white on white look, my goal was to make the house look like a modern/vintage Swedish Cottage and I am super happy with the way it has turned out so far!! And since we will soon be going back, I am starting to look for some style inspiration. Even though our house already had new flooring when we moved in, I love the look the white wash floor boards!!! Maybe in our next house!!

Ballet Inspired Wedding!!

Dominic and I had the most amazing wedding 2.5 years ago! And, we had so much fun that we decided we are going to do it every ten years!!! It is the only occasion that you have all of the people you love and share your lives with, in one room, which is the most amazing feeling ever. In 7 years time, we will have met a whole new host of people and will not have seen many of our wonderful friends that we have known for years!! So why not throw a party, you only live once!

Plus, who says that you should only be able to wear a wedding once?? I loved everything about my dress and I would love to do it all over again!!I think this ballerina inspired wedding would be absolutely amazing for our next wedding!!

White on White - Interior Design Inspiration

As I am sure most of you know, Dominic and I have been renovating out little prairie house.  My goal is to make our prairie abode look like a cute little Swedish Cottage. When I was living in Sweden, I spent many weekends with my lovely friends at their beautiful and quaint Swedish cottages. As a result I fell in love with the entire concept of Swedish cottage living and design.

My idea of the perfect Swedish cottage is a combination between modern and vintage. To achieve this look I am going for the white on white concept by layering different shades of white to create a room full of depth. By creating layers of white, the entire room becomes like an artists pallet - all of the other things in the room will hopefully pop with bursts of color like a great piece of art.

Loppsilov is one of my favorite interior design blogs. The author is Swedish and I must say has an eye for style. Check it out if you have time, if not, I will leave you with a few of my favorite pics from her blog!
