Springs Top Trends - Flared Jeans

With a mission to make great jeans that feel fresh and exciting, the newly launched Mother Denim Jeans are definitely going to be a favorite this season. Guaranteed to make your legs look long and your ass look great - you can't go wrong with the classic cut of these jeans!!

As Springs top trends are inspired by the 70's, there are going to be lot of flared jeans floating around, which I am super excited about. And as such, I have been searching around the net for the perfect pair and I think I may just have found them. With the combination of the light wash, the cut of the flare, and the high waist, these jeans have everything I have been looking for (I love the jeans in the first photo)!! I can't wait to get my hands on a pair!!

On Top Of The World

Without sounding too much like a travel advertisement, I must say that St.John's and Newfoundland in general, is one of the must see destinations in Canada. With a bit of an island vibe, the province is loaded with natural beauty and cultural charm. My favorite thing about the people is that everybody ends their sentence with dear or darling. For example, "What can I get for you dear?" or "Here you go darling"!! I mean how adorable is that?

These pictures were taken at Signal Hill, which over looks the downtown harbour area (we also live down there). It is a historical army base and was the reception point for the first transatlantic wireless signal in 1901. Although today, it seems that the hill has become a popular spot for watch the sunset.

This 'darling' tutu ballerina skirt from Designers Remix Collection was a Christmas gift from Dominic. You may remember it from this post a few months back to which I declared my love to it. I guess this whole blog thing is a good thing because I never even asked for it for Christmas and Dominic got it for me anyways - what an amazing husband!! I don't think I could have received anything better for Christmas!!

A Chic Way To Pack Your Sandwich

For Christmas, my sister Sonia got me a goodie bag of super chic, super cool items of which I thought you may be interested in seeing. One of the items was a set of Keep Leaf eco- friendly bags including the produce bag and the baggie. The, "Keep Leaf  Reusable Baggies are a chic and functional alternative to disposable plastic baggies and wrap.  Made from 100% cotton exterior with water resistant nylon liner, they are easy to use, reusable and washable". Wouldn't you love to take your lunch to work in this such cute, eco-chic baggie?!?!

Golden Globes - My My Red Carpet Review

Did you watch the golden globes last night?? Since we don't have a TV (By choice. I think there are a lot of really great things to do besides watch TV), I didn't watch them. I did however have a chance to check out what the red carpet had to offer and I thought there were definitely some great looks but also some pretty bad ones!! While the ladies wearing the bright, bold, colors (I noticed a lot of green) were stunning, I found myself more inclined to liking the pale pastels. Anyways, here are a few of my major likes and dislikes.
Angelina Jolie in Versace
My favorite of the green dresses!!

Emma Stone in Calvin Klein
Love how the simplicity of the dress is so elegant!

Rhea Durham in Micheal Kors
The color of the dress is amazing - reminds me of a rose!

Dianna Agran in J. Mendal
Love the silhouette and the color of the dress with the color of her hair!

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad
Definitely a miss for me!! I am not liking the beaded type shawl at all!

Michelle Williams in Valentino
Not sure I like anything about this dress - especially the daisies!! She is however absolutely gorgeous and I love her hair!!

Isabel Marant Spring/Summer 2011 RTW

With a knack for knowing what will be 'cool' the following season, Isabel Marant's Spring/Summer collection is sure to delight all those fashionistas seeking a Parisian elegance with a twist of West Coast Casualness. Inspired by the west coast vibe of LA, her Spring/Summer line is an ode to the surfing/skating culture of the 1970's.

The color pallet seen throughout the line is so refreshing and is sure to be a hit this summer. Combining numerous shades of pink and red, usually a fashion faux pas, Marant has managed to create a stunning collection full of new and exciting color trends. With a touch of class and a bit of a laid-back vibe, this line has my name written all over it!! By far my favorite Spring/Summer line this season!!!

Hot Soup on a Cool Winters Day!!

The damp and dreary weather today is making me feel like a steaming hot bowl of soup. Since there is no Thai restaurant in town, Dominic's famous Thai Noodle Soup is on the menu!! Wish you could join us!!

Hello From Foggy St.John's

After 65 hours of treacherous winter driving and a few pit stops along the way, we have arrived at our final destination of St.John's Newfoundland, Canada. The city of St. John's is located on the Eastern Coast of the Island Province of Newfoundland(AKA: The Rock) on the East Coast of Canada. Although NFL is a Canadian province, it is situated so far away from Western Canada, that we did not actually know that much about the province. However, after arriving a few days ago, we have been pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the rocky landscape and wondrous coastline much resembling that of Ireland!!

While the city of St. John's is not really that large, we are hoping to keep busy with lots of outdoor activities such as surfing (Dominic), hiking, sailing etc. And since we are closer to Reykjavik, Iceland and London, England than we are to Saskatchewan, I am hoping that we can squeeze a few trips into our two year stay on 'The Rock' while Dominic completes his MSc.

Dominic Checking Out the Surf

Since I have only been here a few days, I think it is still too early for me to comment on the local style and fashion trends. I will however say that my outfit posts should be great as the local scenery and landscape is breathtaking. The following photos were taken in a local village, on our Saturday afternoon drive around the Island as we searched out potential surf spots for Dominic.

I thought the nautical look of this dress (of which I purchased for half price in Toronto), in combination with my new Hunters (of which my lovely sister gave me for Christmas) was a perfect outfit choice for our coastal weekend outing. While I realize this kind of humid, rainy, cool weather calls for a layered look, I think my snood and my double layered tights did a great job of keeping me warm.
