Click your Clogs!!

No longer are the days that clogs are solely for the Dutch, this season they have made a huge comeback on the runway!! Among the many other amazing pieces, Chanel's Spring 2010 was full of wonderful clogs of all colors from white to red and heels from short to tall and I love them all!!

And, I think I have found the perfect pair for me - for more of a reasonable price!!!

Christmas in April???

WTF??? I woke up this morning and looked outside only to find everything covered in a white fluffy blanket of snow - it looked like it was Christmas!!  So much for the endless summer that I have been ranting about!!! But I am going to be positive about the whole thing as I am sure it will all melt away in a few days - at least I hope so!!

In spite of the stormy snow conditions I decided to brave the cold with the outfit that I had chosen with a sunny day in mind, as I chose my outfit based on these shoes. I was really excited to wear them because I didn't have them along with me in Mexico- it was kind of like saying hi to an old friend. Plus, I threw together this bow to match the shoes (it literally took me two minutes to make it and fasten it to a headband so I think I will be making alot of them in the future). Anyways, as soon as I stepped outside I realized that maybe the shoes were a bad idea - ok terrible!! It was freezing outside - but I am Canadian - I can brave the cold and I think the pictures turned out fabulous with the light of snow!

I like the contrast between the boyfriend blazer and t-shirt with the ultra feminine red bow and shoes

Summer 2010 Bathing Suits!!

We have finally arrived back in Saskatchewan, Canada!! It is great to arrive in the Spring as the snow has all melted and the cold has already blown away - Oh how I love the endless summer!! It is especially great to see everybody getting excited to enjoy the sun and plan their summer wardrobe which includes bathing suits. Since most of my bathing suits are completely destroyed from the sun,  the sun screen and the powerful ocean waves, I am also on the look out for a shiny new bathing suit!! While I have been dreaming of a 50's style one piece, there are also a lot of great bikinis out there this season. I thought I would post a few of my favorites!!

I love the Feminine touch of the floral pattern and the ruffles!!

Wind Wind Go Away....... Come Again Another Day

As we slowly approached Saskatchewan, we stopped for one last photo shoot in the United States of America. And although it we weren't yet in Canada, it was really starting to feel like. The mountains had turned into flat prairie, the abundance of people and cities turned into scarce sightings of people and small villages scattered miles apart from each other. In addition, the weather had drastically changed, it was no longer hot, sunny and humid but cold, cloudy and windy windy windy. We almost blew away like a tumble weed.

I love that you can almost see the wind blowing with the succession of these pictures. Even though it is freezing back up north, I enjoyed wearing this outfit. I have been wearing this skirt with a tank and although it looked good, I was excited to wear it with this stripe shirt and my boots!! I am not sure if you can see it in the photos, but I tied my shirt into a knot on the side. I like the look and it reminds me of when I used to do it in the early 80's, with my fluorescent, over sized, pink t-shirt. If I can find a picture when I get home, I will be sure to post it - however it is possible that it is way cooler in my memories than it actually was.

The Chivas Football Game

One of our friends Galen,  who visited us in Guadalajara loves football (soccer).  So a bunch of our friends got together to go to a Chivas game. The Chivas are the local football team in GDL and in my opinion they are the best - not that I am into sports in any sort of way!!! But, new things are always great and I have never been to a football game before so I was so excited to go. Like any event that I am excited for, I put on my best clothes!! For this event however, it turned out that I was way over dressed with my silk dress and dangly earrings. But no bother, all of the fans were so focussed on the Chivas winning the game that I am sure they never noticed.

Galen and Dominic bought these Chivas Jerseys in the Market!!

Style: Driving Casual

Sorry for the absence of posts this week but Dominic and I are on way back from Mexico and we are driving all the way to Canada.  As we are sitting in the car for almost 14 hours a day, I have mostly been wearing comfortable outfits that are not blog worthy. By comfortable I do not mean sweat pants, just not super fancy!! I did however think that this outfit made it to the picture worthy list, plus it was a nice break to get out of the car in Montana for a bit so that we could have a little photo shoot!!

Although I don't normally wear t-shirts, I love this one which was designed by Revolucion Del Sueno in Sayulita. I have previously featured their Frida Tank designed by them so I will leave out all of the details on the company etc. I love how the t-shirt contrasts the traditional Mexican image of Guadeloupe with the ultra modern fluorescent colors.

Cardigan: Sfera

Alexa Chung for Madewell!!

Alexa Chung, a model and recent MTV starlette (although her show has recently gone off the air) has put out a Spring clothing line for Madewell. I think the collection is going to be great, with the  combination of Madewell (with their super hip yet simple style) and Alexa Chung (who's style emulates a 70's love child and an ultra modern hipster)!!!

In an interview with Mark Holgate for Vogue Magazine, Alexa described her designs as, "Things my girlfriends would wear, and say 'That's sick!' " She told Holgate to, "expect high-wasted pants and jeans and velvet dresses with Peter Pan collars. I want to bring back forties tea dresses, sixties mod dresses...... I want to bring cute back."

While the line doesn't come out until September 2010, here are a few previews I managed to find online.

Love the high socks!
Cute Bow in her hair!
Clogs in the collection are amazing!!
Beautiful Belt!!

Hope your week is going well,

Safari???

I am really not sure where this outfit was heading so I am going to say it is my best attempt at the whole global safari trend. Yet somehow in the pictures I get a Cuban military vibe ... I will let you to be the judge.

These pictures were taken across the street from the place that we have been staying at. I love the contrasting colors of the car and the bright color of the house!! Taking these pictures for the blog has been wonderful experience for both Dominic and I, as we have been finding beauty in things that we have may previously taken for granted. We both find ourselves saying, "that would be a great location for blog photo shoot!"

Who Wears Short Shorts???

I figured that as soon as my sister would see this post she would start to sing, "who wears short shorts....". So I thought I would beat her to it and title it the name of the post! I have had this jacket for a while and I have really been wanting to wear this outfit but it has just been way tooo hot!! So today, I wore the entire outfit minus the jacket and I just threw the jacket on for the photo shoot!!!

While this outfit is way to hot for wearing down here, I think it will be great for the cool climate in Canada worn with these shoes and a pair of tights! I love this jacket, not only because I only paid $12 (on the same rack at Zara), but because I love the little studs on the shoulders in combination with the classic cut of the blazer.

P.S - This has been Dominic's favorite set of photos so far. I just wanted to say thanks for taking all of the photos - you are amazing!!

Seasons Change and So Do I

So I know that I have already posted this skirt with another outfit. But I think that is what being stylish is all about.... being able to mix and match your wardrobe with different items to make a completely yet just as stylish outfit. I love that I can wear this skirt with tights and leather jacket in the winter and then with sandals and a tank in the summer.

I think the days of packing up the winter clothes in a box for the attic and then pulling out the summer clothes are now over. Clothes and trends are now made so that there is more of a transition from spring to summer and fall to winter- so the clothes can be worn in all seasons. And while the seasons change, you can wear the same basic pieces but with the new trends!

Head Scarf: Esprit
Tanks: Bershka
Skirt: Mango
Shoes: Hand Made in Argentina

I love the contrast the ultra girly flowers on the skirt with the black background. I think it is a nice contrast between good and bad! And while this skirt is ultra short, I though it only appropriate to wear without tights while at the beach.

Much Love,
Karen

Frye Leather Shoes

I haven't checked out the Frye website for a while so I was so happy that A Cup of Joe posted these colorful array of leather sneakers on her website. Aren't they just so full of fun and laughter. They would be a great for the transition from winter leather boots to summer sandals as they are leather and could withstand the melting snow!! My first choice color would be pink, followed by white and then berry. Which color would you choose???

Hope your having a lovely day,
Karen

The Mixte Bike

Have you ever seen a more beautiful bike than this! I know that I normally only ride vintage bikes, come to think of it, I may never have had a new bike, but I think that this bike may have changed my mind!! Inspired by the French bicycle designs of the 1950 and 60's, this classic Mixte model from Linus Bikes, would look excellent with any of the Parisian outfits I have picked out for the season. As the bikes slogan is, "looks great with trousers."

Mixte

I can just picture myself riding down the streets of paris, with a baguette and a bouquet of flowers in my basket .... or riding down the dirt roads near my farm which is probably more likely. But it is fun to dream.....

Peacocks and Patterns

Jordan and I are rocking the whole patten on pattern trend that is sooo hot for Spring 2010. Actually, I have to give props to Jordan's creative eye as all of the amazing patterned pieces are hers. Luckily she brought some great pieces from her extensive wardrobe back home so that we could put together this photo shoot!! I love that both of us are wearing beautiful peacock patterns - again it wasn't planned that way but it just seemed to work out wonderfully.

Check out the matching red flats!!
